Sears garden tractor model 917.270512 - 14.5 HP Briggs & Stratton engine.

Won't start. Replaced 30 amp fuse, ignition switch, solenoid & starter. Disconnected seat switch. New battery - recharged. Nothing - ammeter doesn't move. Any ideas?

Hello

There are other safety switches that must not be made besides the one on the seat

You have the natural switch the blade disengage switch and the clutch switch

You mentioned you took the seat switch out did you jump it or disconnect it ?

If it's not cranking it has to be one of these switches

If you need more help post back and we can locate these switches

I hope this helps if not let me know.If it did please click the {Green}accept button

Reply to glenn's Post: I haven't checked the blade or clutch switches - but, pushing the clutch doesn't stop the engine. I assumed that there was no blade switch - if you stand up while the blade's engaged, the motor shuts down, but I assumed that it was the seat switch.

I unplugged the seat switch - no cranking. I put a paper clip between the two contacts on the mower side of the seat switch, but nothing.

Where are the bladeand clutch switches? I don't see them on any of the assembly diagrams.

Hello

Go and look at #16 switch interlock

Also #29 switch plunger

It has to be in one of these 2 switches

Reply to glenn's Post: I'll check these switches & get back. #29 is the seat switch, but I'll try #16 (both of them).
