03 kia sorento, has very bad smell coming out of the air vents. fresh air or heat or ac. had it checked by 3 mechanics,all say evaporator. dealer claims no.

dealer sprayed stuff in the vents, last mech said he washed it and sprayed it. still smells

The smell is caused by bacteria forming on the evaporator. It's not necessary to replace it though. You need to drill a strategic hole in the case to get access to the core without damaging it. Get one of those garden sprayers with a wand and fill it with lysol. Insert the wand and spray the lysol over as much of the evaporator as possible and turn the fan on full to push it through the core and that should get rid of the smell.
