Our poodle/lasa apsa/maltese dog has an irritated anal area. We saw the vet today and he gave him two shots(antibiotic and steriod) Gave us antibiotic pills(clavamox) and creme(animax) for the affected area, roughly a three inch radius around the anus where the dog has licked causing inflamation and irritation. We subsequently found fleas on the dog and treated it also with Hartz 4 in 1 flea treatment. The vet also sent him home with a cone on his head. The dog is going crazy from the hood and the irritation makes him want to get to his butt all the more. He is in constant state of extreme agitation....is there anything we can do to calm him down?
