Question

our 4 year old male Norwegian Elkhound is vomiting several times a week about 30 minutes after he eats in the evenings. He has been checked by the vet including blood work, stool sample and for worms. Nothing found. What is causing this. He is losing weight.

Reply to Animal Eyes's Post: He is given 1 1/4 cups for breakfast about 10a and 1 1/4 cups about 5p. We feed him a premium dog food that has no corn products but I cant think of the name. It was suggested he might have an allergy to corn so thats why we changed to this other food. He has now been on it for about a year. The food is bought at a farm supply store that moves alot of dog food. (He had the problem before we switched him). He acts normal, is happy, I think he is on the hyper side. The groomer suggested feeding him the bulk of his daily meal in the am, and crating him before his evening meal so he is calm when he eats. That doesnt seem to have helped.

Answer

If he tends to gulp his food down you might try spreading it out on a cookie sheet so he has to slow down when he is eating. Often when they eat too fast it can cause them to vomit afterwards. Try this and see if it helps.
