If my dog has medium red spots in her feces, what problems could that indicate and what can I research before taking her to the vet tomorrow for a stool check?

Answer

You can just bring a stool sample in to be checked without an office call but in this case I'd suggest seeing your vet as blood in the stool can indicate bleeding in the lower bowel area (bleeding from higher up results in a dark stool as the blood is digested).
Blood in the stool can be from parasites, protozoan infection such as coccidia or giardia, swallowing of non food items including sharp things or something that is not passing easily. It can also be a sign of a bleeding disorder, or be an indicator of an ulcer or tumor.

In my experience the two most common issues in adult dogs are parasites/protozoans or eating something they shouldn't.
Hope this helps you!
