Not all Property-liability loss exposures that commercial insurers agree to underwrite possess all the characteristics of an ideally insurable exposure. Nevertheless, commercial insurers do provide coverage for many such exposures, often with the assistance from government agencies.
(a) Identify four loss exposures that do not possess all the characteristics of an ideally insurable exposure but for which commercila insurers are able to provide coverage.
(b) Treating seperately each of these exposures, explain why commercial insurers are able to provide coverage.
(c) (i) Identify loss exposures that do not appear to be insurable by any means neither by private insurers alone, by private insurers in cooperation with government agencies, not by governmental insurers.
(ii) Explain why each of these exposures remains uninsurable.
