how long is this going on?
why do you think he may be blocked? Does he chew non food items?
When was his last BM?
Is he able to urinate?
Dear friend,
I am so sorrry to hear that you are injured. I will pray that you make a complete and speedy recovery.
Your boy is definitely under stress because of what has happened to you. Dogs are very intuitive and genuinely feel for their owner so that may be part of the problem. If he cannot move his bowels he can have a little cows milk as that usually acts like a laxative. Feed him a very light diet of only cottage cheese or boiled chicken. He should be motivated to eat these tasty items. Let him see you take a piece and then offer him a piece. He will be flattered that the pack leader (you) is offering to share food. You can give him unflavored pedialyte to keep him hydrated. A teaspoon of plain yogurt will put "good" bacteria into his colon.
Please let me know how he is responding and if he has a BM. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Sincerest best wishes and prayers to both of you,
Terri
You are very welcome Jeff. It is my pleasure to help someone as nice as you and your sweet boy.
I will be praying for both of you!
If you need anything at all, just let me know.
Very sincerely,
Jeff,
Bloat and intusseption is possible in any dog, regardless of breed or chest. You can try one gas x tablet and see if he gets relief. www.carecredit.com will loan you the money for his vet care if he must go.
PLEASE get back to me and let me know what happens.
You do not need to accept this answer - I would rather you use the money to help your boy.
Dear Jeff,
I do not want to alarm you but if he is unable to have a BM or hold nything dowm he most lilkely has a blockage in his GI tract. He really MUST see a vet at this point especially since he is getting worse. Try to get him in ASAP.Instead o f a lot of tests xray the GI tract and see what is blocking him up. If it is in the lower colon, your vet may be able to remove it via an enema.
PLease, Jeff, I know you love your boy - have him seen ASAP. I am really worried about him.
Please let me know what happens.
I am so very sorry to hear your boy is so ill. You should wait for your regular vet the one you trust to do the diagnostics. The other possibilitie is a blockage caused by swallowing a non food item.Do an xray and and ultrasound before the other tests.Bloodwork will tell the Dr if he has liver, heart or other organ abnormalities.
I know you love your boy very much so I will be praying he has something treatable and thet he will be OK>I will also send your question to other experts and see if they can come up with anything.
Sincerest best wishes,
Jeff,I have contacted other experts and will do anything in my power to help you save your boy.
I have conferrred with one of our esteemed veterinarians and she thinks your boy may have a tumor. She wants you to do an ultrasound. and xrays PLEASE hurry. See if http://www.carecredit.com/ will loan you the money for his care. I know you love this boy and I will help in any way possble so PLEASE get back to me.
Vets comments:
Comments:Hey there... i would definitely go for the gastric bloat/GDV partial or a possible splenic mass/intrabdominal tumor. I just took out a cantalope sized tumor on a spleen on Tuesday with a dog with similar signs. xrays are a must!!!! he needs to be seen FAST if it is a bloat/gdv of any type!
I will be waiting to hear from you. All I can do from here is pray for your boy.
Sincerest best wishes and prayers,
