Question

I need any information on painting of this type

Sent to General Experts October 22, 2006 6:52 p.m.

I have an oil painting dated 1812. How do I find more information on the artist or the painting. I do not know the flag that is shown in the painting but it looks like a signing of some sort of agreement that is not going well. I was told, but don't know how realible the source is, that it was someone at the signing that painted this picture as it was before photography. I really don't know much about it. If you are intrested I can give you the artists name. You can reach me at XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. We have been sick around here this last two weeks. The artist's name is DeBrunye. The flag appears to be blue with a light blye or white cross through it the background is a med blue in between the cross sections, it has stars, maybe flouretiens or eagels it is hard to tell, it is repetative and looks gold or yellowish.

I am at work right now, when I get home I will check the spelling again. There is a first intial but I'm not sure what it is. It might be an H , W. It is kind of a designed thing, not a normal letter, kind of like a brand.

Ma'am I see no mention of anyone by this name as an artist or painter. I have done an indepth search and nothing under this name appears. I would suggest that you have an art appraiser in your area take a look at it. Do not leave it with them. It is hard to tell what you may have and it may indeed be a one of a kind. But again, no mention of the artist by the name given. I can only answer this and your under no obligation to accept the answer. let me know if I can further assist you on this painting.
