1998 volkwagen jetta -119,000 miles

my jetta shut down immeditely after i started it. it will eventually start running after a few more tries. After a mile or so the oil light will comes up blinking and would not stop until i come to a stop. any idea what wrong with my car.

hello joe- you may have an oil pump problem- you should not drive the vehicle any further until you have made sure the oil level and appropriate oil is correct. i would also suggest having the oil pressure tested. driving your vehicle with a flashing oil light may cause severe damage to your engine! if this helps, please press accept. thank you and God Bless.
