My friend has a 2002 vw gti 1.8 turbo his waterpump seized causing his timing belt to break bending 7 valves. (4 exhaut, 3 intake) Repaired head, had to machine, replaced valves, waterpump and t-belt. Put everthing back together, hard initial start-up. Figured fuel pressure had to build-up. Once started runs perfectly and able to drive as long as wanted. Once shut off and tried to restart takes 2 to 3 times to actually start. DTC sets for P0341 cam sensor circuit range performance. Checked all wiring and connector to cam sensor also replaced sensor still same problem occurs. Also rechecked the timing and went over everthing i did. I am a mazda/chrysler tech and very unfamiliar with the vw product is there anything that i am missing. Thank you. Chris Thompson

if wiring and sensor are good then you're off a tooth on the timing belt...it does not have a crank/cam correlation error code and they normally set the p0341 if off a tooth....have you verified the crank sensor signal? i can help you with that if you'd like
