I had an info request for your state until I saw the Buckeye. So it must be Ohio.

Ok, the way this is done is in the spring just as the maple blooms are wilting you will place wire mesh over the branch of the tree selected. Then place pantyhose over the wire mesh. The seeds have been pollinated within the first few days of bloom so that is why your able to do this just as they wilt.

Tie the hose off with a twist tie and the rest will do it's own. The seed will be in pairs and ripen and fall within the panty hose and not be lost. Thus being able to obtain the seeds from the tree you wish.

We do this in Florida with Pine Trees and it works quite well.

Let me know if you need further help.
