Dear friend,
Sometimes the throat is injured when the trach tube is removed after surgey. I woud not give his boy anything right now. I would immediately have him seen at a totally different veterinary office then the one that did the surgery. However, you can put two drops of pancake syrup right onhis tongue to raise his blood sugar in case he is hypoglycemic.
Let me know if he perks up after that. I will stand by to hear from you.
Very sincerely,
Terri
Yes - we have had quite a few cases where this has happened. You can give him plain pedialyte to replace his electrolytes. If he continues to vomit and cannot hold anything down that is very dangerous in a 9 year old - so I would have him seen ASAP if such is the case.
Let me know what he is doing.
Der friend,
As long as he does not vomit just monitor him very closely. Put pancake syrup on his tounge, give him plain pedialye added to his water or by dropper. See if he will eat a little cottage cheese or unseasoned baby food. Feed him very slowly very small amounts so he does not throw up.
Keep in touch with me. I will be here til midnight eastern time and happy to help you.
molasses is fine - did he perk up any?
also get Gerber chicken baby food, cottage cheese and plain yogurt
contact me as soon as you return

If he is hungry, let him eat as he needs his strengh. Just feed him slowly and not too much at a time.
Keep me updated on him throughout the night.
You are very welcome. It is my pleasure to help someone as nice as you and your sweet boy.
