Thank you for your question and welcome to Just Answer.
"What is truth?" was more of a statement than a real question. It was a rhetorical question more than anything. Jesus just told Pilate, "Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." Pilate was trying to express to Jesus frustration over how anyone could really know what the truth was.
Think about the situation Pilate was in. Jesus was claiming to be God's son. Many believed him, perhaps even Pilate somewhat. Yet there was a crowd of Jews who were calling for his death, and Jesus preached against the Roman rule. Pilate didn't know what to do or what to believe. Can you imagine the pressure? Should I put God's son to death or anger the mod at my door?
So, to answer your question, there was no answer. It was an expression to explain that one person's "truth" is another person's lie. The truth to Jesus and His followers was that he is the son of God. The truth to the Jews was that he was a liar. There was no way for Pilate to know for sure.
I hope this helps! If so, please don't forget to "Accept!"
