I have a sword that looks 19th century with a makers mark that appears as PROVEW in a small circle with a spanish looking small cross within the name. I have searched several hallmark and metal makers directories, but I have not been able to find a match. The hilt of the sword has an unusual floral metal design, but I cannot recognize any particular country or sign of origin. The handle has a sort of rolled leather or lizard skin surface with fine metal strands of rope design as a finish. It would be great if you could find the manufacturer, country of origin, possible year of manufacturer, etc.
