We live in wisconsin and purchased rose bushes for the first time this summer and they were just beautiful with tons of blooms.   How do we protect them during our harsh winters to insure that they will come back again next summer?

If your roses are grafted and most roses you will purchase are it is very important to protect the graft from cold damage. The graft is a bulge where the rose growth will come from. Click here for a very good web site with lots of information, pictures and diagrams that will help you decide which for of protection you wish to provide for your roses. The rose cones are my favorite, but they can be expensive if you have many roses.
