PROTECT EXCEL WORKSHEET BUT EXEMPT SOME CELLS FROM PROTECTIONI

I just installed Office 2003 ... on the old Office 97 when I Protected worksheets in Excel I could exclude certain cells or columns from the Protection .... How do I do this with Office 2003 ... I want to Protect aan Excel Worksheet but I want to set certain cells on the worksheet as Not Protected ???

Thank you for your question and welcome to Just Answer.

Before you turn on the Protection you'll need to select all of the cells you don't want to protect. You can hold down the shift or ctrl key to highlight multiple cells at once. Go to Format->Cells->Protection Tab. Click on the "Locked" box to unselect it. You can now go back and protect the rest of the worksheet by going to Tools->Protection->Protect Sheet.
