Thank you for your question and welcome to Just Answer.

Part of the hard residue on the stove is most likely the sugar in the milk. There are a few ways to go about cleaning a stove top.

The first is to buy a stove top cleaning product, such as Cerama Bryte here. I've used these and they really work, especially in conjunction with a razor to scrape away the larger chunks.

Another method is to mix up your own blend of cleaning product. One such mixture is:

  • 1 quart hot water
  • 1/2 Cup bleach
  • 1/2 Cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup baking soda

Let sit on the stove top for a few minutes and wipe away with a sponge.

I hope this helps! Personally, I always go with the store bought brand just because they are available at all stores and are easy to use. Please don't forget to "Accept" my answer.

Definitely skip the bleach part then. I think you would be okay, but no point in risking it.

Do you have a straight edge razor? That works great to get that first crusty layer off. We always use the razor, then the cleaning solution and ours looks brand new.

Ryan

No, it won't scratch it if done properly. You won't be holding the razor like you are trying to cut cardboard. You hold the blade more parallel to the stove top, like you are whittling away at wood.

Our stove came with the razor, so I know the over makers are okay with that. Images available only to Customers.
