was there really a leatherface? or texas chainsaw massacre that happened on 8-20-73?

That fact has never been established but I do not believe it is fact. I know at least the movie was not factual, since it opened with kids riding on a rural Texas 2 lane road. The date was suppose to be 8/20/73. The kids were singing along with "Sweet Home Alabama". which was not released until 1974. I am sure it it had been a real incident there would be information available about the killings but there is none.
