Here is an article in the NY Times about the current opium harvest going on in Afghanistan. It's dated September 2, 2006.

Reply to Dear Candace's Post: not exactly precise enough. the implication from the date of the article is that the harvest must take place in august.as the article appears in early september, bit of a guess though. you probably just googled & picked up the most recent thread. never mind.

Hello Alex,

This link is a pdf document published by the Afhanistan Governments Counter Narcotics Directorate. I believe it answers every possible question you could have about the Opium Harvest.

Page 9 specifically displays the harvesting times by region. The later pages gives textual details of the information summarised in Page 9.

It seems to say that most harvesting takes place in the Afghani Spring.

With kind regards,

Duncan
