How do I highlight and waterproof the colour of stone pebbles

Sent to General Experts September 22 06:12 AM

I have been sold some decarative pebbles which are dull and do not show the true colour.
I have washed then free of clay & dirt, and when wet are super. I have sprayed some with oil which highlights them but washes off. I have sprayed some with Silicone which semi highlights- how can I bring out there colour.

After cleaning them again to rid them or any oil or silicone residue, dry them well. Spray them with a clear gloss finish. Several coats may be needed to set a shiny "wet" appearance. For a permanent finish some rocks can be polish but that is a very time consuming process.

Reply to Rsposta4u's Post: I am looking for a practical solution to treating over 1 ton of pebbles,(half a million) varnish or polish was my original concept but there are 2 many to hand treat. To use a cement mixer would coat them but they would stick togeather as they dried. Oil and Silicone do not stick. I need to coat them speedily with a solution which will not stick them together.

Reply to Rsposta4u's Post: I am filling in a pond, I have filled the bulk of the pit with plain ballast stone, now I require to end up with an attractive finish,. I have purchased a large quantity of Highland pebbles because they were shown on display as bright and shiny. The supplier claims the stones he showed me were wet when seen, despite 1 weeks hot dry weather when i ordered them. They were delivered bagged and dull. Somehow I need to "dress" the pebbles to form approx 25mm surface on top of the ballast. best treatment so far 2 times coat in 5water:1pvA allowed to dry then 3 water :1pvA for dull shine.
