I have a two part question. Can a latent fingerprint be lifted off a fired bullet casing and can the heat from firing a handgun melt any fingerprints on a bullet casing?

Yes fingerprints can be identified and will be present on the casing of the bullet after it is fired. The heat from the firing does not get the casing hot enough to melt fingerprints. Look at the casing after it is fired. The outside of it will look no different that it did before it was fired except the projectile will be gone. If heat was present in any degree the casing would be discolored.
