You need to ensure that the skin is completely clean of lime, I would suggest a luke warm shower to really rinse the area thoroughly.
I would get him on some painkillers such as tylenol with codeine or ibuprofen for the pain.
Do not attempt to burst any blisters These often occur after chemical burns. Normally I suggest a dry dressing over a burn without using any other agents. This allows the skin to heal naturally.
Although calamine lotion is cooling, it can be quite drying to the skin and may not be the best here. Assuming there is no chemical left then aloe vera gel is the best product to use on the area if you feel that he needs something soothing.
If the blisters are large, bigger than palm of his hand then he needs to get to ER, if they are bigger than 2 inches each then he needs to see his family practitioner. Drink plenty of water. If he shows any sign of infection, weeping or pus from the burn then again he needs to see his doctor.
Does this help?
