Question
i have a 1991 nissan maxima gxe i was driving one day last week, and it wouldn’t go and it just gave out. I replace the transmission fluid last year, the fluid still look fine, but i left the car there, and the next day, it would pull off again, but then it just stop, but when it sits for a while then it will take off, and then when i change the gears, it won’t change anymore, do you think it could be a bad filter in the transmission or is it cheaper to just get another one? i would really appreciate the help

Answer
IF THE CAR ACTUALLY CHANGES GEARS WHEN IT IS RUNNING, THEN IT MIGHT BE THAT THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS YOUR TRANSMISSION HAS GONE BAD. YOU CAN BUY A USED COMPUTER FROM A JUNK YARD. BE SURE THAT THE NUMBERS ON THE COMPUTERS MATCH.IF HOWEVER, YOUR CAR IS NOT SHIFTING GEARS, YOU MIGHT TRY CHANGING THE FILTER, ESPECIALLY IF IT WAS NOT CHANGED DURING YOUR RECENT FLUID CHANGE. THESE CARS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR BAD TRANSMISSIONS.
