Two things I need to know first. Is this Tahoe 2 or X XXXXX XXXXX? And can you kind of give me a brief description of the noise?

Reply to BOBBYSS's Post: The tahoe is X XXXXX XXXXX. And the noise kind of sounds like a rubbing type of noise. Or low pitch sweek.

Answer

The most common thing on these vehicles to cause this problem is the rear parking brake shoes. They tend to, at times, come in contact with the rotor causing this noise. GM actually has a service bulletin about this problem. In order to fix it, the parking brake shoes must be replaced with new brake hardware.

Accepted Answer

What usually happens with these vehicles is the hold down springs wear out allowing the brake shoes to shift when you hit a bump. When they shift they then hit the inside rotor causing the noise. This also unevenly wears the brake shoes, that is why I recommend replacing the shoes and the hardware.
