As far as making a comfortable living and job security, a career as a veterinarian is a very good choice. There is an average of five jobs for every one veterinary school graduate, enabling vets to be quite selective about which job they choose. Generally speaking, small animal veterinarians (dog, cats, and exotics) tend to make more money than large animal vets (horses and farm animals).
