Question
My kitten was diagnosed with an upper respitory infection and was treated with Ampicillian twice daily for 5 days. The reason I took her to the vet in the first place was because she was sneezing a bunch. Now she has a slightly runny nose, sneezing, and what sounds like a "cough" or just a weird sneeze. Shes very active and eats really well. I was just wondering what the problem could be. She's finished her treatment on the upper respitory infection but still has symtoms. Thanks.

It sounds like the first antibiotic didn't take care of the problem. You shouldn't have to take her back in, but you do need to call and let the vet know that she still has the problem along with coughing now. Zithromax is an excellent medication to take care of URIs and this type of issue, so you might talk with him about the possibility of using that. You only use it one time a day for three days, skip three days and use it again for another 3 days. Treatment protocol varies, so your vet may have a different treatment schedule, but it knocks URI's pretty quickly. Please let me know how things go!
