Inexpensive, safe, clean accommodations in San Antonio Alamo Heights

My brother is going to be in San Antonio for one month, beginning Sunday, Sept. 11. He is going to school in the Alamo Heights area. He needs to find an inexpensive, clean place to stay for the month. Do you have any suggestions. (Inexpensive!and clean/safe!) Thank you
