Marketing question about online retail kit
Sent to General Experts September 06 09:10 PM

Our online retail store is creating a kit to send to small manufacturer's, we want them to post their products/merchandise on our website and drop ship the items. We recieve 20% of the purchase cost. What would be the name of such a kit? (its not exactly a media kit)

Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy) and welcome to JustAnswer!

The manufacturer is using your website to market their goods or services using their own drop-shipping. I would call this kit a "Drop-Ship web marketing kit" or "We-market-you-drop-ship kit".

Hope you like these,

Have a great day!

Reply to tex-eng's Post: Thanks for the help, but not quite what I am looking for. I was hoping to find an actual marketing term for it. Something short but concise.

Hello again,

Actually the function that you described is very close to an electronic "sales agent" or "sales representative", see the definitions below:

Sales Representative: a salesperson; an individual employed to sell goods on behalf of a producer or some other member of a marketing channel by contacting prospective customers and developing in them an interest in the company's products.

Outside Sales Facilities (Sales Agents):     manufacturers' agents and representatives, sales agents, dealers, distributors, etc available to supplement or even to replace a firm's own sales force.

How about "Electronic Sales Agent" or "Electronic Sales Representative" or "Electronic Outside Sales Manager".

Instead of "Electronic" you also could use "Web" so they would sound like "Web Sales Agent" or "Web Sales Representative" or "Web Outside Sales Manager".

How about these?

Reply to tex-eng's Post: These terms describe a person. I am looking to define the kit we send out to the manufacturers, for example a media kit. But this kit does not sell ads we are asking manufacturers to post their products so our website has more items and the manufacturer gets greater product coverage.
