A modern myth is a story, piece of fiction, or belief that has become accepted as fact by many and the origin is within the last few hundred years. UFO, Bigfoot, and horoscopes are examples.
An in depth Example:
A modern myth is that water drains in different directions in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This myth is so widespread that it has been repeated in text books and television shows. The Coriolis effect does affect large air masses, it does not determine the way water is drained, that is determined by how the water is being directed out.
I hope this has helped! If so, please don't forget to "Accept!"
