I have 2 Shih Tzu's and take them out about 10:30 just before I go to bed. I get up at 5:30 each day, should I be taking them out immediately. Normally they are still sleeping and I take them out just before I leave for work about 45 minutes later.

If the dogs are OK with this routine and not having any potty accidents your schedule should be fine.
Key for dogs is having a schedule - they do well with routines.
If you are having an issue with one or both dogs having potty accidents then changing your routine might be worth it but for now if it works for everyone I'd just continue with it as it is.
