Novel writing

Sent to General Experts August 08 07:21 PM

The French began a sort of game of writing. One person began a story by writing a chapter or two then passed it on to someone else to continue to develop. What is the term for that process?

This is referred to as "Playing Round Robin." One person starts the story and then it's passed round and round until it is finished.

You can read more about how it got the name here:

Can you tell me a little more about what you're looking for? Perhaps I have read your question wrong.

You can read about the origin of "round robin" here:

http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=20010426

It originally referred to sporting tournaments but then was altered to include writings with multiple authors as well.

If this still does not help, let me know. I have been writing for years and still play "round robin" for e-harlequin.

Reply to tfalkner's Post: I don't see any reference to the practice of developing a story - the explanations you have sent seem to try and answer the who in
'round robin' but there is no actual talk about this specific game of developing a story through several authors. (Not a petition and with no need for subterfuge Am I perhaps missing something?
