Are you asking how to determine how each expense in your budget goes to make up 100% of the total expenses? Maybe something like this: Food $2,500, Gas $1250, Medical $5,112, Entertainment $750. In this case total expenses would be $9,612. Of that Food would be 26%, Gas would be 13%, Medical would be 53%, and Entertainment would be 8%. To get the percentage for each component, you would divide that expense dollar amount by the total expenses.
