Question

I have a 1986 toyota 4x4 truck with the 22r efi engine, I recently replaced the head gasket, but now I can't get it to start, I am getting fire, cause it will start with starting fluid, and I am getting fuel up to the fuel rail, but it wont' start and run, and I can't believe that all of the injectors could be out. Any suggestions?

When you pulled the head, did disconnect the loom at the ECU in the right kick panel or did you remove the manifold?

Did this problem start immediately after you got it back together?

Reply to RonRepair's Post: when I pulled the head, I removed the manifold and all of the wires and hoses individually. The problem started for the most part right after I put it back together, but since the head gasket was blown, I could't get it to run right before I took it apart either, any more suggestions?

Relist: I still need help.

Answer

If I remember correctly, 86 had a cold start injector in the middle of the upper intake manifold so take that loose/out of the manifold with the fuel supply line still attached and the harness connector still attached and see if when you crank it over does fuel spray out of the cold start injector.
