Will be working on them for you and you do have a double post on this particular question. Just curious as to how you requested me. Have I assisted you before.
The Standford Prison Experiment was an experiment on the Psychological response to humans in captivity. Specifically being in prison and the imposed social rules on behavior and how it affected them.
Social roles and rules of the prison were the same as any normal prison life. They included Wardens, guards and prisoner's. Social rules and roles of both the "prison guards" and "prisoners" were soon in total disarray.
Due to the social rules and behavior it was shown that the subordinate behavior and sadistic treatment of the guards forced many of the prisoner's to either submit to the behavior, breakdown emotionally or cause a total revolt of the conditions and situation. Certain conditions were set out by the team to intentionally disorientate, depersonalize, and individualize the prisoners. It appears this was indeed the cause of many of the experiments problems and cause to conclude early.
Hierarchy within this experiment on both the prisoner and guard positions were evident and the cause of many of the internal working problems and conditions.
Guards and prisoners soon gained the upper-hand on each other and control of the conditions and daily living was maintained by this hierarchy. Most prisoners would not submit to the abusiveness of the guards and other inmates. Some simply fell apart and had severe emotional reactions to the situations at hand.
A real life comparison of this would be the Prison at Alcatraz.
Situations that occurred during the experiment were all too common in Alcatraz. This population of inmates showed the same aspect of Social Rules and Roles. Each of the prison guards as well as the inmates had also acquired the same exact hierarchy within the system that played out on the every day life of both guard and prisoner. Several escape attempts and several major revolts from prisoners were made. Guard corruption was rampant. Alcatraz was shut down in the mid Sixties due to Investigations exposing conditions and treatment of prisoners. These conditions and treatment were controlled by the Social Rules and Roles from within the walls and few on the outside knew of the horrible treatment and behavior from both guards and prisoners.
