Optional Information

Answer

If you use X to represent the cost of the ball
The cost of the bat would be 1+x

The cost of the two is 1.10

Therefore x+(1+x)=1.10
Simplify you get 2x+1=1.10

Subtract 1 from each side you get 2x=0.10

Divide by 2 on each side to solve for x

You now have x=.05

That means the ball is 0.05 (5 cents) and the bat is 1.05 for a total of 1.10
