Trying to identify moth or butterfly
Sent to General Experts July 25 11:45 PM

On a recent trip to Tennessee (I live in New Jersey) I saw a moth or butterfly that is not shown in my "limited edition" naturebook, could not find it in library books or internet. I saw it fleetingly when it flew and I cannot remember what it looked like then. When it is resting, it looks like a medieval upside-down shield. It is yellow, with a vertically black stripe going down its middle back and a horizontal black stripe towards the bottom. What did I see? Thank you for your answer. XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Did you try this site? There are so many types and variations that I don't think anyone here will be able to tell you by your description only. I can offer the website below even though you may have already seen it. It appears to have over 2000 butterfly photos. Good luck in finding out what you saw!

Hope I Helped :)
