Answer
Hello,
This is best left to the professionals if it was a large fire. There are many chemicals on the market that are suppose to to get rid of the smell and help with soot cleanup, but sometimes if you don't get the right chemicals you will do more damage and they might only mask the smell for a short period.
Look in your local phone book for Fire Restoration.
I know Servpro does cleanups after fires and floods. Another way is to ask your insurance company who they recommend.
Also by using a professional company, if the smell comes back you have someone to call and get it corrected instead of trying to do it yourself.
