my 2 y/o german shepherd's paws keep developing these large pimple type growths between his toes & pads. he's been treated three times already with antibiotics. each time the infection goes away, but comes back within a week or two after the last of the medicine. could he have an allergy?

It sounds like interdigital cysts and these may have a basis in allergy. You might want to try using a food with very different ingredients from what he gets now. Wellness fish, duck, rabbit, or venison or a similar food from another company with no grains or meats similar to any in his current food may help. You have to swap all treats to the same diet too for this to work well.
For topical care I found soaking my dog's feet in Epsom Salts, then cleaning with hydrogen peroxide, and using neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment on them helped to clear the sores up.
You may also want to have your vet check for a thyroid issue.
