Question

If my female boxer "stood" for my male boxer, and they got "stuck" once....what are the odds that conception occured?   I know they did it once because I saw it, but am not sure if he got her more than that.    I have been reading as much as possible, and from what I understand, when she stands for him, that means she is ready and can get pregnant.   Is that right, or would she have stood for him too early before she actually ovulated??

Answer

Hi,

If you actually witnessed your girl "standing" for your male then it's a pretty safe bet that not only have they done it several times when you weren't looking but that you can expect a litter of pups in 58 to 65 days. A female will NOT stand for a male unless she is ready to breed. I am sending you several links that discuss canine pregnancy and whelping.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need additional information.
