unknown device when connecting usb hardware

i have connected a usb mass storage device to my laptop. it was working fine ? now wheni connect it. the laptop calls it an unknown device. how do i make it recognisable again?

Try to physically disconnect and connect again - if this wouldn't work - reboot your laptop and try again.
