have a copy of Treasure Island, signed by robert Louis Stevenson, published by W. L. Allison Company of New York. Not in real good condition. no copyright date. no published date. Who do I see to know if it has value?

I am looking for an actual price but based on your description, i would be quite certain to say that the book will not be worth much.

The order of importance for a books is

signed / not signed

if signed, is it a 1st Edition

if signed and 1st Edition is it complete and in good condition

is the author still alive

ditto is the publisher an established one for this wor (ie not a Readers Digest reprint)

You book would probably sell best at a specialist auction; either one focusing on RL Stevenson, or just on signed editions etc.

I believe the max possible value would be $75. I have bought signed 1st editions by similar stature authors for a lot less. The fact that this has no published date îs the biggest problem; either a page is missing (bad news) or its a knock off publisher.

I will look now for a quaotable price but am extremely unlikely to find an exactly matching sale somewhere (ie this author, signed, this publisher).
