Answer
Allergies -classic signs are:
1. paw licking and chewing
2. itchiness (licking and chewing the body)
3. ear problems - shaking head, infections
4. rear end itchiness - "sit & spin" or "scooting"
5. armpit and groin redness and irritation
6. skin infections
A hot spot, or "pyotraumatic dermatitis" is caused from constant licking and/or scratching in one area. The area becomes very red and irritated, sometimes bleeds, but is MOIST and oozy. Red, angry and moist - that's a hot spot. They can emerge in less than 30 minutes.
