I heard that maccaws aren't supposed to eat peanuts, Is this true?

They can have them as treats but it recommended not to be a staple of the diet. How much do you give and how often?

Answer

You can put them a a pelleted diet that doesn't include any seed. Two that come to mind that are completely balanced is Zupreem and the other is Harrison's which is all organic. This may be the better way to go so you don't have the problem of peanuts. Again they can have them occassionally as treats but not as a staple of the diet.
