Ebay problem
Sent to General Experts July 16 09:53 PM

What steps should I take to get an ebay sale settled. I sold a computer to someone in Cleveland Ohio. They received the computer and told their credit card company that they did not get the computer. The credit card company refunded the money to him. I am now out a computer and the money..Do i need to file a police report in Cleveland Ohio ? Ebay and paypal are of no help to me at all. Please steer me in the right direction. I am out $450 and I have all of the correspondence that says he received the computer I sent him.
Thanks

Do you have proof that you sent the computer and proof that the customer recieved the computer? Not a correspondence from the buyer but proof from the company used to deliver your item? Did the customer pay using PayPal?

I just sent you a PM.

Please respond and I will then reply.

I am a eBay Power Seller and a Ebay Trader's Assistant.

I believe you have experienced a very common scam, pulled on eBay.

Did the customer use PayPal to pay for the computer?

Ma'am/sir if paypal was used all you have to do is contact paypal and alert them to this. It is an on-going scam on ebay. I have a 99.8 feedback with over 300 sales. You need to go to paypal website and ebay. Both will help with this and the CC will be shown as paid via paypal and your not required to pay it back. Pay pal will be the one to fight this and not you.

Please click the Green ACCEPT if my answer is helpful. Positive FEEDBACK and Bonus is appreciated.

Reply to 4ren6's Post: they already gave the guy his money back and told my son that there was nothing they could do to help him unless he supeoned the credit card company. They would not tell him which credit card it was so he cannot move forward. Do you suppose filing a police report in this guy's home town would do any good at this point?

Customer (name blocked for privacy),

I looked at the buyer's feedback and the Ebay ad. Why does he want to return the computer? Did you go through the PayPal investigation?

I looked further and it looks like you have gone through the charge back, through PayPal?

Did you reply when they asked for information?

Did you provide them the UPS information?

Reply to John Baker's Post: He told my son he got it, but didn't want it.don't know why. My son has made numerous phone calls and emails to both ebay and pay pal to no avail. Like I said, they told him to supeona the credit card company this guy used..but we don't know what that is.    I don't want to keep you hanging on..considering you are in another time zone. We will keep trying with pay pal I guess. Tell me what I need to do next to get you paid..sorry about the rating thing...now I know how this works, i will do it right next time. Also, someone else responded to my question...do I have to pay them also? Please let me know so that I don't mess this up a second time. Thanks,
Polly

Reply to John Baker's Post: I cannot get ahold of my son at the moment, but knowing him, he probably did not reply to paypal right away. He said he did, but I can't be sure. I don't want to keep you..but do you think going back to paypal would be the best thing to do? We just hate to drop it and let this guy get away with keeping the computer..let me know what you think and I will let you go..thanks for your help...

I am here to get your answer answered.

If you would rather to continue tomorrow, that is fine with me.

Going to the PayPal sight to communicate will often lead to nowhere.

Believe me I know.

I have two eBay seller's accounts with 800+ sales on one and over 1200+ on the other with 100% positive feedback.

I have been selling on eBay for many years and have been dealing with PayPal since they became into existence.

Reply to John Baker's Post: Thanks for working on this with me..I would like to get this solved, but need to get ahold of my son for some answers to your questions. I looked at his link and can see that he (my son) does have a couple of negatives...but my husband shipped this for him from his office..so I know it was sent to this guy, but not sure if it was sent on time..I will have to get that tracking info. I can only assume that if it wasn't shipped on time, it made the buyer angry and he decided to be stubborn about returning the computer..I just don't know. Will talk to my son and get ahold of you tomorrow if that's ok. Do you think that a resolution is possible? I don't know that much about EBay and you obviously do..so I will take whatever suggestions you have to offer...thanks,
Polly

Reply to John Baker's Post: So the feedback problem has been resolved, I received a message from Andy (sorry about that once again). In looking at the items you asked about, the auction, the shipping record, etc. I can see where the problem lies. The buyer paid for the item on April 4th. We shipped it on May 11th. He received it on May 17th. In the meantime he filed a claim for non receipt. Paypal must have accepted it and the bank returned the money to the buyer's account. The buyer and my son have not posted anything negative about the other on Ebay. Now that you got me to look at the whole story I think the buyer is just angry that he did not get the item when he was promised it. Since my son has gotten nowhere on the phone, would you think it would help to write the buyer a letter asking for the computer back and offering to pay the shipping for the return (an apology of a sort). Does the buyer have a right to keep the item and the money? I wouldn't think so, but don't know the Ebay rules. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

Yes it looks like Andy removed your feedback.

Please be sure to leave feedback it again. Images available only to Customers.

No the man does not have the right to keep the computer and the money he paid for it also.

Somewhere along the line, you son should of had the right to reply to PayPal's return of the money.

If PayPal received no reply from the seller, they will credit the money back to the purchaser.

Getting eBay to take any action now would be almost impossible.

Ebay does have a link that may help in this resolution.

http://pages.ebay.com/securitycenter/law_enforcement.html

Ebay will provide the customer's contact information and their phone number.

Follow this link (http://cgi1.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?UserInformationRequest) to request that information.

Often a phone call will have better results than email correspondence.

Most likely the buyer is being a #% for what he felt was not proper delivery of the item.

Perhaps your intervention would help since many men respond better to a woman?
