Question

Please help with altering bridesmaid dress!

Sent to General Experts July 02, 2006 11:37 a.m.

I need to do an emergency rush alteration (due today 07/02/06) on a Da Vinci style 9045 bridesmaid dress. The straps are too long for her shoulders. Bridezilla wants the straps to hit at the ends of the sholders. But, as the straps are wide at middle and taper to more narrow at dress, I am having trouble figuring out how to do this one. I am begineer to moderate sew skills. If I take it in at dress, I lose alot of the tapered look, if I take it in at middle (there is a seam there), the size of strap is different where it would meet. I will need to bring in in about 2 1/4". Would running a piece of elastic on the inside of the strap to make it fit look horrible? Help please!!!! Please e-me and I can foward on a pic of the dress. Thank you! XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX   :( Elizabeth D.
