How do I find and illiminate an odor???
Sent to General Experts July 01 08:42 PM

There is a smell in one of the rooms of my house I recently moved into. The house is 2 years old and I can't seem to find the source where this smell is coming from. I've tried everything from oils, incense, candles, sprays and can't seem to get rid of this smell. What can I do to find the smell and illiminate it?

Reply to Bridgette's Post: The room is empty...when I first open the door I get a strong smell and it's all around the room. It's not coming through the vents. Its not stronger when the air or heat is on and it doesn't seem to get stronger when it's hot. It's just a wierd funky smell. I just moved it three weeks ago and can't figure where this smell is coming through. I tried smelling the rug in all parts of the room and don't smell anything remotely resembling the odor.

Hi again, well the first thing I would do is check the crawl space if you have one or attic, there could be a dead animal. Some paints also smell really bad. you might have mold in the walls or ceiling. If you are sure its not the carpet then it has to be one of the above. If you are renting I would contact the landord and have him/her find and fix the problem. If you own it and just want to mask it the best airfresheners I have ever used are from bath and body works its an oil that you plug into the wall it will mask the smell and smells wonderful and last a long time. OdoBan for odor removal and it works very well and leaves no smell, it is available at Sams Club . Also I would air it out as much as possible it might just need a good carpet cleaning and wall sanitizing. If you have any other questions just ask. Bridgette
