isn't there a rare disease that carries all the same syptoms of shaken baby syndrome? And isn't it so close to shaken baby syndrome that a special test is the only way to tell what a baby actually is suffering from.

The diseases that are discussed center on bleeding disorders that could cause the same bruising and bleeding of the brain and retinae that shaking a baby can result in. These are indeed rarely the cause of the "injuries" that babies suffer in SBS.
