Question

My 6 yr old poodle has had diareaa today- he had people food yesterday and I think that is what caused it or the chicken jerky he gets as treats when I go out and leave him home. I seem to remember being told by my vet that it was ok to give him imodium in an emergemcy. Could you please advise if it continues he will go to the vet but I need to stop it for right now.   XXXXX@XXXXXX.XXX

You can give him Immodium..follow the childs dosage or you can give him Kaopectate 1ml per pound of body wieght to help with the diarrhea. If you want to go with a more natural remedy, consider using canned pumpkin 1 teaspoon for a guy this size. The extra fiber will bind the stool. Just no more than a teaspoon though. Make sure you feed him a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice until the diarrhea subsides and wean him back on his dog food. Good luck and I really hope he feels better soon :)
