Hello, I would like to know how to find out what was in my sisters will without having to ask my brother in law or niece Iam not really concerned but iam curious is this public record? My sister passed away about 75 days ago and I have not received a straight answer. Her estate was around 300,000 dollars or so and my brother has hinted that she left me something.
               Thanks

Reply to John Baker's Post: My Brother in law should be the executor, william austin starnes. I do not know the company that drew up the will but my sister
had it done. My brother in law should have power of attorney. I would think the will would be probated but I dont know how long that takes. My sister passed away in ga. Sorry
I dont know much and I dont know why they
have not told me more.
     Thanks Scotty

Looks like you brother in law is the one that has the answers. Normally the details of a will are made public at the probate. There is no place to go, where the information on a will is public record, before the will is probated. If your brother in law will not give you the information you need, your only choices would be to wait and see, go to the probate hearing, or hire legal counsel to attend the probate hearing. Depending on the court load probate can take 6 months to more than a year. Sorry I can't be of more help but with the limited information provided, this is as much as I can come up with.
