Question

VCR problem!

Sent to General Experts June 21, 2006 8:19 a.m.

Why does every VCR I've ever owned hate me sometimes? Occasionally, like just now... when I go to use my VCR, it will play a few seconds, then power itself off, and the LCD reads "Bye". When I hit power, it ejects the tape. I re-insert the tape, and it starts all over again. Is there a auto-sleep timer or something at certain times of the day? I've had this happen over the years with several VCR's, and it drives me absolutely nuts.

REPLIED Check Mark

Hello Doug, Most likely the tape is the culprit. Most VCR machines will automatically stop and power off if the tape is too "tight" or hangs up.(It's a safety measure to protect the tape andn the VCR) Try fast forwarding the tape a bit then rewind it and play it. You should see a difference. If you are using a rewinding machine to rewind the tapes that may be the cause for it.

I've tried multiple tapes when the VCR is rejecting my movies... I don't think it's the tape...
